Psychedelic Dragon

I think I drew this eight years ago...?

Anyways, this is a male of this kind of dragon. The mane and the things on the tail and legs are skin flaps, for the purpose of attracting mates. The yellow bits in them are rather flexible lengths of cartilage, which is why the skin flaps can stick out like they do. The orange thing on the front of its neck and chest is an air sac, which can be inflated when the dragon is showing off to females. Even the horns and fangs are used more for showing off in mock combat than any real kind of fighting.

The reason there's green scales drawn specifically is because the rest of the dragon is covered in a kind of leathery skin, and the scales are just tougher and thicker skin that happens to look like scales. It's the same with the bottoms of the feet -tough skin with ridges for grip.

My idea behind all of this is that the males are just like peacocks. They're pretty to look at, but they don't do anything substantial. The females are supposed to look much less conspicuous, and are covered with that green (or dull blue), scale-like skin. They do all the hunting and such, and the males take care of the offspring once those exist.

I also had a complicated biology worked out for their reproduction, but I've forgotten a bunch of how that worked, and what I do remember is still remarkably complicated.
